The Studio supports multiple ways to connect and record with more than one microphone. Below are three reliable methods depending on your setup - whether you’re recording in person with a guest, using an audio interface, or working from a single device.
Option 1: Two Laptops (Host + Guest in the Same Room)
Best for: Recording with a guest in the same location, each using their own microphone and laptop.
Here is how:
Host joins the Studio from Laptop A
Guest joins the Studio from Laptop B (in the same room)
Select their own external microphone as both the microphone and speaker/output device.
Select Yes when asked if they’re using headphones, then join the session.
Start the recording
Neither laptop will play audio through speakers (you’ll hear each other naturally in the room).
The final recording will contain separate audio tracks, each captured from its own microphone.
Option 2: One Laptop + Audio Interface
Best for: Recording multiple XLR microphones through a single computer using a professional interface (e.g., Focusrite Scarlett).
Here is how:
Connect all microphones to the audio interface and plug the interface into your laptop.
Enter the Studio and set:
Microphone = your audio interface
Speaker = laptop speakers or the audio interface headphone output.
Select “I’m using headphones” = Yes and make sure Echo Cancellation is turned ON.
Start the recording.
Option 3: One Device, Two Browsers
Best for: Recording two USB microphones on the same computer.
Here is how:
Open Browser A, join the Studio, and select USB Mic #1 as both the microphone and speaker/output.
Open Browser B (make sure to select a different account on Chrome, not just a new browser window) on the same device. Join the same session and select USB Mic #2 as both the microphone and speaker/output.
In both browsers, select “I’m using headphones” = Yes.
Start the recording. Each browser records a different mic, giving you separate audio tracks using just one device.
You can also record with two microphones directly in the Audio Editor.
Here’s how:
Click on Create and select Project.
Click on Record and turn on Input configuration. Make sure the right microphones are selected.
Once you are ready, click on Start Recording. The audio will be recorded in two separate tracks - making editing super easy!
