Panning refers to the distribution of a sound signal between the left and right channels in a stereo mix. Essentially, it determines where a sound is placed within the stereo field, allowing it to be heard more from the left, right, or equally from both sides.
How to change pan:
Navigate to the Audio Editor and click on the three horizontal dots next to the track you want to change the pan.
Select Show options.
A menu will pop up on the right side. Click on Pan and adjust as needed.
💥Tips & Tricks💥
In interviews, panning each speaker slightly to opposite sides can make it easier for listeners to distinguish between voices.
In video recordings, panning can help simulate the location of sounds, like footsteps moving from left to right as someone walks across the screen.
By adjusting the pan setting, you can position an audio signal anywhere from the far left to the far right, with a centered position evenly split between both channels. This helps create a sense of space and direction, giving listeners the perception that sounds are coming from different directions.
